Ukraine drops out of Eurovision song contest after Anna Korsun Rejects Certain Terms and Condition
On February 27, The National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine said that Ukraine would not participate in Eurovision 2019 which starts from 14th May.
Anna Korsun, who performs under the name Maruv has who won the domestic selection process. Anna Korsun refused to sign a contract stipulating that, she would not perform in Russia for at least three months after the competition and pledging not to make any statements that may question territorial integrity and security of Ukraine.
Eurovision aims at being non-political and a friendly conglomeration of pop music performances for entertainment but politics often roil in the background. Maruv and the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine failed to come to an agreement regarding Eurovision.
The Participants who came second and third rejected the proposal to go to Israel instead of Maruv calling it an unfair decision. Anna Korsun has been offered a contract that would temporarily ban her from playing in Russia, as a result, she rejected the contract and Ukraine dropped out of Eurovision 2019.
